  1. Average Joe's have a pretty good sense of how the economy works, and would understand the need for the sort of (in)action Peter is talking about.

    The problem all along has been that the neo-Keynesians dominating the airwaves have had a vested interest in making it all seem very complicated and too hard for the average person to understand.

    The politician who does have the courage to do the right thing (eg Margaret Thatcher) and blow past "the experts" is dismissed by them for using a simplistic "shop-keeper's" view of economics. Somehow this simple view seems to work, though.
