'Love, Deepak'

Deepak Chopra sends a love note to Sean Hannity:
Why do you use your influence to monger fear, militancy, divisiveness, and jingoism?
I was hoping to come back on your show and have a reflective, intelligent dialogue, but perhaps the attack mode is the only way you know to make a living. The best excuse for your dishonest accusations against me is that you don't believe what you're saying. The far right has deflated, so you are there to pump it up with hot air.
FWIW, I have often stated my objections to Hannity's bully-boy approach to interviewing guests with whom he disagrees. It may work as a ratings-grabber, but it is self-defeating in terms of persuasion.

OTOH, Chopra's CNN rant -- finding the United States to blame for Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in India -- was indefensible:

Chopra's analysis is a single-factor equation: Factor A, the evil policy of the United States, explains everything, including Muslim-Hindu hostility that pre-existed the founding the United States! It is necessary to point ouf that this argument is idiotic, but it is not necessary to be obnoxious in doing so.

  2. Mike, my mother told me if you can't say something nice . . . uh, become a blogger!

At any rate, the less said about "the F state" (as Alabama fans call it), the better.
